The Giglio Lift

The Massapequa Giglio Association continues this tradition through the building and dancing of one Giglio in the parking lot of the Massapequa LIRR train station adjacent to Sunrise Highway.

We started carrying on the Giglio tradition in August 2023 and want to continue to do so every year. The Massapequa Giglio is approximately 72-feet in height and has a total weight of approximately three-tons.

Approximately 110 men carry on their shoulders this hand-built, papier-mâché statue which includes a Band and Singer on its Base.

For the Dance of the Giglio Feast to take place, a hierarchy of Dignitaries has been established by the Executive Board for the Feast:

This group is an extra special group of people who donate their time, energy and resources year round to ensure the Feast is like no other.
